I made another chalkboard, I just cant get enough. You can check out my 1st one HERE. This time I used a frame from Goodwill that my mom had lying around.
My husband cut a piece of plywood to fit right in the lip of the frame.
Then I painted the chalkboard paint right on. I used the liquid quart paint and roller method this time as opposed to the spray paint. I actually liked this way better. It only took 2 coats and went on way smoother and easier.
Then, last week I saw Jess from Craftiness is Not Optional post this on Instagram. It’s a really cool and easy chalkboard lettering technique that she got from Hello Beautiful Blog. Its my new go to way to write on chalkboards! Once the paint dried, I used this technique for writing a little heading on my chalkboard.
I used wood glue to hold the plywood into the frame and let it dry over night. Don’t forget to season it by rubbing chalk on its side all over and erasing. Voila… a new chalkboard using only scraps!
Here it is in its new home. And a little sneak peek of my craft room :) My husband and I have been working hard to make this place the “worlds best craft room”. And it is.

Savor these crazy moments in your life! I have 5 children, 4 boys and 1 daughter (smack dab in the middle of all that crazy) and they are all now grown. I have gone from refereeing to watching my youngest get married this past weekend and welcoming a new daughter into my family. Where did the time go?

I cant even think about them growing up haha! I try to always remind myself because I really cant believe how fast time has gone already!

That’s lovely! Great job getting in a finish in these last of summer days. I know exactly what you are feeling, this summer I have been feeling the exact same thing with my two girls. I swore I’d never be one of those moms who was looking forward to school starting, but frankly, we ALL are – everyone needs some routine, structure, and a break from one another. Hang in there, and you’re doing great!!!

I used to think I was going to have free time when I first became a stay-at-home mom. Boy was I mistaken! Between keeping them busy and getting meals on the table it’s hard enough to keep up with the laundry. I have found though when things get crazy like your describing, I go back to a schedule. I start making sure breakfast, snack, naps, bedtime, etc. all happen around the same time everyday and then we seem to fall back into a better routine. I just do my best to keep up with crafts and blogging and find it’s not easy. When I feel frustrated, I remind myself that in two years they will both be in school everyday and this special time will be over. Oh, and an occasional skinny margarita with some reality TV once they are asleep helps too, lol.
