5th and Frolic Project Life Core Kit

August 12, 2013 By Taylor 15 Comments

5th and Frolic Project Life

This post is part of a paid campaign with American Crafts, but all opinions are 100% my own. This is a product I have used and loved for years.

If you have been reading TaylorMade a while, you know that it’s no secret how much I love Project Life. I don’t just talk about it here on my blog, I also talk about it in person too :) I have even converted some friends because I am just that happy about it. I started memory keeping before I was 10 years old, before I even knew what memory keeping was. In High School I started a traditional scrapbook. But after college, life got busy and I stopped. Which is a similar story that a lot of people have and now that I have kids, preserving our memories are more important than ever to me! Enter Project Life.

Project Life is a super-simple approach to scrapbooking created to simplify the process. It requires no scissors, no glue, no tools and no skills of any kind. If I want to I can whip out 10 pages in an hour. If I am feeling especially creative, it also can be customized and “fancied up”. I even bought my non-scrapbooking sister a kit last year :) I love that it appeals to the person who’s never made a scrapbook in their life as, as well as those with lots of traditional scrapbooking experience. I have posted some of my tips and tricks  HERE, HERE and HERE.

Project Life used to be sold exclusively online but is now available at Micheals! YAY! For all our immediate crafting needs, Michaels carries one of the largest selections of Project Life, including two exclusive core kits and several exclusive albums.

The two exclusive kits are both awesome. The Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic Core Kit is my personal favorite and it features an array of light blues, pinks, greens, yellows and airy neutrals. The fun icons include birds, trees, foxes, houses, keys and clipboards. The edition has a distressed feel. They also carry the The Vintage Travel Core Kit which features deep blues, reds and browns, along with a variety of darker neutrals. The icons in this Edition include trains, airplanes and maps.

I usually have a good mix of DSLR photos and iPhone photos so I love the smaller pockets for those! Here is a spread I did with the Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic Kit with some pictures from March, I tend to skip around a little (click on the picture to see them larger)…

I did add some embellishments for this week’s spread but this kit would be so pretty if you did nothing but slide your pictures in.

So, how many of you out there are “project lifers”?

Gallery Wall Update, a New Piece and a Giveaway

August 6, 2013 By Taylor 17 Comments

gallery wall

Look Familiar? Same Gallery Wall, Different House. When we moved (2 months ago) we didn’t have a dresser, and the boys had a mattress on the floor but you better believe I found the wall decor box a hung this ASAP! Previous Wall HERE and HERE.

I love having a fun wall like this because it gives me an excuse to collect unique things and I love the way it looks, a bunch of random stuff that I love all coming together :)

If you are really good, you might have noticed a new piece up there. When I started gathering things for this a few years ago, I wasn’t ever going to put photographs up there because they are so typical. But then a few weeks ago, Ink361 contacted me about reviewing something for them.

Ink361 is a website for photography lovers and especially Instagram fans, you can order professional quality prints and photo products (from 4x4s to iPhone cases), view amazing photos and get inspired. My favorite part about the site is that you log in with your Instagram ID and there are all of your pictures just waiting for you. They let me choose what I wanted to review; I think I spent about 3 hours trying to decide :/

I went with the Metal Print for the Wall and I even got 2 Mosaics. There are the 10″x10″ size… I think I am going to frame these for another area of my house.

IMG_6484

And I LOVE the way the Metal Print turned out. It has a little spacer on the back so its stands off from the wall and that’s also how you hang it.

I think it’s right at home on the gallery wall.

Another Project Life Update

September 17, 2012 By Taylor 12 Comments

If you know me, you know I love this Project! I have no affiliation with PL, I just love it :) Read my other Project Life Posts HERE and HERE. I am working on my 2011 and 2012 at the exact same time which is crazy and not recommended ha! I keep forgetting what year and writing the wrong dates! Especially with the boys being only 18 mos apart I’m like what kid is that… and what year?? Here is a little update from the craft room. I am up to date on both years through May… woo hoo! For 2011 I have the Amber Core Kit and for 2012 I have the Cobalt Core Kit.
I am trying to use different materials like sequins and buttons. I have a love for sequins.

Another new thing I love, I just staple embelishments right onto the photo which is kind of liberating for some reason. I used quite a few staples on this page… also please don’t judge these one month old Clyde pics, yes he is almost 2. Better late than never?

As I work more on my book I get more creative with other textures. It looks so much more interesting to break up the solid picture pages.

I am in love with this Monthly Calendar stamp. HERE is a similar one. I use it all the time!

I have been using these 6×12 page protectors for cards.

A lot of people use Project Life as a “week in the life project” or a “photo a day” but that’s not really my style. Sometimes, like with Clyde’s Bday above I have 50 pictures from one day. Then some months we don’t have a lot going on so a whole month will fit on 1 page. Here, I made a whole page just about ampersand. These pics range from about 3 months but I thought they would look better together.

And here is a whole month on a page.

I love using these pages Design G and Design H for the Monthly Updates. I want them to be on their own page but I don’t need 4 or 5 of the same picture so these smaller pages work great for me.

And two of my favorite title pages….

I used a real band-aid for a page all about first Clyde’s ER Trip. I thought I was being so original but then I saw some band-aid stickers last week that looked just like it.

So does anyone out there do project life? If you have pictures PRETTY PLEASE link them up in the comments, I would love to see some new ideas.

Project Life Update…

May 29, 2012 By Taylor 4 Comments

I am not only sharing my Project Life Album Update because it’s “taylormade” but it also holds me accountable! I mean its almost June and I’m almost done with February, that’s a record for me haha!
I take so many pics on my iPhone and I am super excited about the new square pockets but I also have a ton of rectangular pics. They are a perfect shape for the 2″x3″ card slots. I like to use layout “F” for my cell phone pics. Page “B” works well too, I have a hard time writing as much as page “B” allows for with the 6 card slots so I usually always include horizontal phone pics.

I do a monthly update for each “baby” but after they are 12 months, I was having a hard time with milestones, so now I do every 1/2 year.
My new favorite PL thing ever!! I found this YouTube video on the Becky Higgins Fbook page. Since I started scrapbooking over 14 years ago I have always said I wish there was a way to include videos into my album… guess what?! There is… this amazing Project Lifer came up with something so revolutionary, QR codes in your album which is directly linked to your videos. Ahh… Link to the original video HERE.
I promise I don’t have a favorite child haha, but I am in the middle of about 5 pages straight of Clyde’s 1st Bday :)  I am so used to the old fashioned title, on some pages I just split it up like this…

If you want to read more about my PL process, HERE is it. Also, do yo have any new PL tips and tricks I need to know about? And have you used the QR codes? I think I’m going to do a few videos each month!
