Embroidery Hoop Art

September 4, 2012 By Taylor 12 Comments

Remember when I jumped on the Embroidery Hoop Bandwagon, well I am still on it folks. And after the latest project, I’m not getting off any time soon. I wanted to add a quote about bikes to my Gallery Wall (random I know). And I needed something round. So, I broke out my trusty silhouette.
I used the clean cut interfacing, ironed my fabric to it, fed it into my machine and let it cut away.

Then I arranged my designed and ironed it down to my main fabric. I found the cute bike file in the Silhouette Store.

I hand embroidered around the words “life is a” to add a little something extra.

I wanted the “vintage” look of a wrapped hoop so I tore strips of fabric and glued them down to the embroidery hoop.

Then I just put my hoop back together, made sure my design was centered and cut the excess fabric off.

And of course in true TaylorMade style I had to rearrange part of my Gallery Wall. I also added something else that I got at Anthro… who can spot it?

Super cute and I think I have all the supplies laying around, except the embroidery thread! This would be perfect in my MIL new house in the playroom. She is big into riding!

I love embroidery – and have for decades, but yours looks nice and modern. I’ve picked up some pretty big hoops at our thrift store lately and now finally feel inspired to use them. The fabric around the hoop is a nice touch, too.

I rarely comment on blogs, but I had to here to tell you that your wall looks lovely! All of the frames are so unique! And I think you got the yellow bird frame from Anthro.

Okay, so I pretty much love EVERYTHING you create. This is awesome! The fabric combination you chose is killer…and I have embroidery hoops and some of that Silhouette interfacing on hand, so there’s no excuse for me not to give this a go! Pinning on my Silhouette board NOW. (Also, I love how your photos of the process are so artfully captured; they’re really stunning.)

    Warmly,

Hi there, I do believe your website may be having browser compatibility issues.
Whenever I take a look at your website in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in IE, it’s
got some overlapping issues. I simply wanted to
give you a quick heads up! Other than that, fantastic blog!
