Mini Casserole Carriers

Did you know that my casserole carriers are my most popular TaylorMade craft ever? It’s true, they have more views, comments and “pins” than any other craft every single month. I also get many emails every week asking about them. So naturally, it is kind of a go to gift for me- I like to make them as a wedding gift or a Christmas present. But what if the recipient doesn’t need a whole casserole? They are only one person and they just want to take their lunch in a cute little mini version… so I created the Mini-Casserole Carrier. It might even be cuter than the original. Why is everything cuter if its small? The cuteness started with this tiny little 3cup glass Pyrex dish I found, the perfect lunch size.

The cover couldn’t be easier…All you need:fabric insul-bright velcro

Cut both pieces of fabric and the insul-bright to 16 1/2″ x 6 1/2″. Put right sides of fabric together with the insul-bright on top then sew all the way around leaving an opening. Flip and top stitch all the way around. Then add the Velcro. I also added a TaylorMade tag.

I also had to add the name to the Pyrex in tradition Casserole Carrier Style. I think that is why people love them so much. Just like on my other Pyrex dishes, I using etching cream and a vinyl stencil for the name. Find the originals here and here.

Gold Dipped Wine Glasses

Have I told you about one of my favorite BBF’s? That’s short for best blog friends mmkay. Meet Melissa from Cupcakes OMG. She is beyond awesome, one of the most stylish people I know and she’s hilarious. Melissa is a self named “snarky narcissist” and isn’t afraid to tell it like it is, whats not to love? Not to mention she is an incredible cook – everything from healthy paleo recipes to decadent cupcakes. She is originally from Houston but lives in DC so when she was home for the holidays we got together to do a little craft project. Enter the Gold-Dipped Wine Glasses (tutorial found via Say yes to Hoboken)

View original tutorial HERE.Melissa and I spent hours catching up and dining on my Pimento Cheese Sandwiches and Macaroons that she made. Then we got down to business. All you need is gold spray paint, tape, newspaper and the glasses.

We wrapped the wine glasses with craft paper and painters tape. Can I just say how much easier it is to take pictures of a craft when you have a model.

Then we took them outside to spray them. Two lights coats worked better to prevent drips.

Wait to dry (and take pics of yourself or eat more)

Take the tape off. You could stop here and you would have some really pretty glasses, be we are over achievers. So we added a monogram with etching cream.

I used my Cameo to cut out our initials but you could use vinyl and an exacto or even the negative space from a letter sticker.

Then apply the etching cream, it can be found at most craft stores, I buy it online… its cheaper. Also it says to leave it on for like 5-10 minutes, but I keep mine on for 20-30 otherwise its too faint. And you really have to slather it on. As you know etching cream is my friend as seen HERE, HERE and HERE.

Rinse it off and we are done.

I definitely wouldn’t put these in the dishwasher. They have held up so far with a few hand washes. I am just really careful on the paint dipped part. They can really fancy up your boxed wine :/

More Casserole Carriers

My last Casserole Carrier was such a big hit that I have been busy. My original has gone crazy on Pinterest – you can find the first post HERE. I found the pattern from Two Little Hooligans and I love it, clearly… I made five more for Christmas! HERE is the pattern, really easy to follow and much easier in bulk because you can do an assembly line :)

I also said this in my last post but I followed Homemade by Jill‘s post about the cotton belt straps. I like the look of it better and I think it’s easier.

And of course I etched the last names into all of the pyrex. PS… not even kidding, I went to three different parties during the past month and brought a dish in an unetched, naked pyrex. I need one for myself, hello… the life of a crafter always making things for other people, I’m so noble.

Casserole Carrier

I like to make homemade wedding gifts whenever I can. I saw this Casserole Carrier Tutorial from Two Little Hooligans and I was allll over it. She has really detailed instructions. The only thing that I didn’t do (and should have) was add a little extra length because the Pyrex that I found had built in glass handles. But I still love how it turned out. Halfway through I remembered an old post from Jill where she added belting instead of making the handles. She also etched the couples last name into the Pyrex. Done. I shamelessly copied two crafters!
